Oxygen Generator - Solving Aquarium Oxygen Problems

To meet the need to supplement Oxygen in fish and coral aquariums and batteries, always aiming at system safety and the best cost-benefit ratio, as well as simplicity and practicality of use and maintenance, we have developed and tested a Oxygen generator, which would dispense with the heavy and expensive “bottles” (cylinders) and which would be accessible to Brazilian hobbyists.

Our Oxygen Generator uses only water, which is decomposed into its Chemical Elements (Hydrogen and Oxygen), through an electrolytic process.

Gerador de Oxigênio oxigenação aquário

The electrolysis of water is well known, even from high school chemistry classes. Although,  its practical, long-term use faces some problems, such as corrosion of electrodes and rapid destruction of electrical sources.

We solved these problems with the choice of special steels and electronic power supply protection, greatly increasing the useful life of these components.

The Generator is constructed of clear acrylic and peripheral components are easily replaceable.

The oxygen produced can be added to the aquarium through a mixer (see our turbo-mixer), or through a skimmer, or even with any circulation pump.

Once supplied with water (from a tap) and with the electrolyte solution (with the product), the Generator only needs to be replenished with water, and nothing else.

Electric consumption is negligible, running around 0.1 Ampere.

The system is completely safe for the aquarium and for people, as it has no risk factors. The only restriction is the generated Hydrogen, which must be discarded to the external environment, as it has an uncomfortable and slightly irritating odor, which is done by a thin hose (6mm).

Hydrogen is only explosive in high concentrations, which does not happen with our generator, and therefore there is no risk of fire or explosion.

We manufacture Oxygen generators in three sizes: For aquariums up to 500 liters, from 500 to 1000 liters and from 1000 to 2000 liters. Larger sizes can be ordered.

Aquários Sobrinho, as it is already known by many Brazilian and foreign aquarists, manufactures its products in a personalized way. Thus, dimensions, complements for assembly  and everything else the aquarist needs to use our equipment,  are provided upon ordering.

We are always ready to solve the needs of each hobbyist.

Oxygen Generator Handbook

This manual serves as a guide for installing the Oxygen Generator. If there are any questions or difficulties in the installation, as well as need for additional information, send an Email to  www.sobrinhoaquarios@gmail.com">www.sobrinhoaquarios@gmail.com

- Position the generator body, still empty, in a level position (this is important), where it will be permanently, always at a higher level than the water to be oxygenated;

- Pass one of the hoses (any one) to an external location, where the hydrogen will be eliminated;

- Pass the other hose to the place where the mixer will be (sump). This will be the Oxygen;

- Connect the hose that comes from the generator (Oxygen) to the mixer, which can be the skimmer or pump and circulation;

- Add the electrolyte solution (500 ml) into the generator body, through the hole in the empty chamber (in the part

top).WARNING: Electrolyte solution is slightly corrosive and may cause skin irritation;

- Complete with fresh tap water up to the “max level off” mark;

- It is normal that there is a slight heating of the water, when mixing with the electrolyte solution;

- Attach the RED “alligator mouth” claw to the electrode corresponding to the OXYGEN (hose that goes into the water);

- Attach the BLACK “alligator mouth” claw to the electrode corresponding to the HYDROGEN (hose that goes to the outside);

- Call  the source/ballast into a 110/220 Volts (bi-volt) outlet;

- At this point, the generator will start to work, generating the gases in the electrodes. Note that the Hydrogen electrode will produce twice as many bubbles as the Oxygen electrode;

- Check if the injector is sucking and injecting Oxygen. If so, the generator's oxygen chamber will be slightly higher than the others.

- Oxygen Generator does not generate positive pressure. So, porous stones or direct application to water do not work. It takes a bomb or a venturi,  that sucks oxygen from the generator.

- Top up the water level with fresh tap water whenever the level reaches half the length of the electrodes. You don't need to use any other solution. Do not add more electrolytes unless there are leaks.
